Happy October!

Well I finally caught up on our blog!  We are enjoying fall now, and have enjoyed the beautiful weather that comes with it! (however, today it snowed and is still coming down!)
Lindsey had fun posing Ridge at the grocery story while I ran in to buy a few things.
That is one big spider!

September 2012

With summer over, we started school in September.  We worked hard the first couple weeks getting into a routine, and that has heleds things sail along nicely.  We are studying Medieval times, and have worked through the Barbarians and Monks, and Muhammed/Islam.  We are onto Charlemagne, and will soon visit the Vikings and Lief Erickson before delving into knights and castles.

Lindsey has enjoyed Apologia General Science this year.  She has especially had fun with the science experiments.  One day she set up a stage on the porch, and made invitations for the kids to come at a certain time to watch her show.  She even made them all carmel popcorn.

It was really cute as she demonstrated the things she had been learning.

Learning about density.

Ridge is her right hand man.

August 2012
Happy Birthday Dallin!
#5

Dallin is our big 5 year old now!
He is growing up and is in the funnest stage.  He is so curious always asking questions, and has a huge imagination.

He really likes boats, and Ryan was able to take the kids canoeing down the Snake River in a real boat before the weather got too cold.  The little boys loved it!

                Canoe Camping on Shoshone Lake
                  Yellowstone National Park
                            August 2012
Shoshone lake is the largest primitive lake in the area, inside Yellowstone Ntl. Park
Ryan took the oldest 4 kids canoe camping.  That meant a lot of prep work bagging all the gear and food into waterproof bags!
Portaging

Peaceful paddling
Getting buff biceps
Yellowstone and buffalo always go together whether you are in a car or a canoe!

August 2012 Backpacking into Palisades Lake
Ryan took Spencer, Lindsey, Porter and Kami along with a couple goats to haul in some gourmet food.  They took a griddle for pancakes, along with steak, canned food, and even dry ice for icecream sandwiches!

A beautiful lake.  Spencer and Lindsey spent a day down at the lake fishing, while Ryan took Porter and Kami to hike a peak.

Fishin' Man

Young Men Stake High Adventure July 2012

Ryan, Spencer and Grandpa Johnson were able to go on the high adventure together, backpacking through the Tetons.  They had a fun time, and Spencer also was able to have missionary training experiences in the evenings.  Ryan did a great job coordinating everything for the stake.

June and July

One of the best parts of summer is making strawberry jam!  We just can't get enough, and eat it up way too fast!
Porter and Kami were great helpers!

Dallin and Ridge loved the mashing part!

                                      Happy Birthday Lindsey!  #13
Lindsey had a fun friend party.  They had fun floating the canal on tubes, then coming home for presents and home made ice cream sandwiches.

Girls Camp 2012

Lindsey had an awsome experience at girls camp this summer.

Ryan led a group of 2nd year girls on a hike.  They were able to summit table rock.  It was hard, but they did it!!  A pretty neat thing to accomplish with your dad!

Happy 4th of July!
Ridge enjoyed watching the Rexburg Parade

The kids had fun walking with their homeschool group.  They dressed up like characters from different
books from history.
Kami was the American Girl Kirsten Larsen
John and Abigail Adams
Porter the unicycle dude really liked all the attention he received
Fireworks in Menan were awsome!

                          Happy Birthday Spencer!  #15

Spencer is our bird man, and usually has the whole neighborhood all scoped out and knows where all the bird nests are located.  Then he watchs carefully and reports when things start hatching
