Lost Tooth

Oh the excitement this morning as the glorious moment finally arrived. Kami lost her first tooth! She has been wanting to lose one so bad, like the big bros and sis, and today she is sooooo thrilled to join the lost tooth club at last!

Plop...Drop

It looks like we were just in time finishing our coop...we got our first egg today! We need to train them to lay in the right spot now. The chicky laid it on the wrong side of the trough, and it fell through the wire...plop, drop, crack, onto the ground. They ended up eating it! That's not quite cannibalism, is it? In this pic you can see a bit of the remaining shell. Maybe the next egg WE will get to eat!

All Cooped Up

Well I guess I'd better catch up on all the ongoings of July since the month is over now! Last week was Ryan's first week off and he doesn't have to go back until September! So we are loving having dad around the place more often. The most recent project---

Finally giving those free rangers some boundaries! Since the chickens are Lindsey's responsibility, she was excited to help Ryan plan the coop. She helped him every step of the way. The other kids joined in on the project too, and it became quite the family affair.

Planning...

Getting started...

Taking shape!

look at the other picture first

Voila! This how far they got as of today. They are still planning on trimming it out in white, to make it look kind of like a barn. Also making a door in the side. The square in front is going to be a little door that you open, and reach in to gather the eggs. Now we are just waiting for them to lay any day now!

Spencer is old!

Spencer turned twelve this July! He is now a deacon, has passed the sacrament, gone to mutual, done service for widows, gone to scout camp, and earned 5 merit badges. He's old...that does NOT mean I'm old, right?

Stop staring at that weird cake and wondering what went wrong. It's a perfectly fine cake, and yes, I made it. It is actually a very structurally sound icecream cake, and it was really good. We called it the avalanche cake.

Up early and ready to go to scout camp. A whole week away from it all.

The boys went on a hike to Table Rock mountain.

Ryan hiked it twice. Once with the older boys, and once with Spencer's scout group.

Wind Cave

A couple weeks ago we had a fun hike up to wind cave. After about 2 1/2 miles you come to a huge waterfall flowing from a big hole in the side of the mountain. The hole is a cave. You have to hike up the waterfall, and then you can go up into the cave and explore. It is pitch dark, and very cold!!!

This is where you have to cross in front of the waterfall in order to climb up it. Dallin was terrified as we crossed, and would NOT stop crying! He was scared of the really loud rushing and splashing. So I stayed behind with him while he calmed down, and the others went to explore. We've been a couple other times, so I didn't mind missing out.

Of course I had to show one of Porter's poses.

Ropes Course

We went to the Econ department picnic, and this year they held it at the BYU-I ropes course. The kids had a lot of fun. Ryan came straight from work, so yes, he is climbing in dress pants and a white shirt!
