Glacier National Park

We had such fun at Teton National Park we decided we'd better hit a couple more N.P.'s before school and snow set in. So we headed north for Glacier National Park. We couldn't help but go through Yellowstone on our way...

We met a nice buffalo,

Said hello to Old Faithful,

Plugged our noses as we marveled at the hot pools and paint pots,

And mozied our way on up to Bozeman, Montana to spend a couple nights. We stayed in Hyalite Canyon. We backpacked in this very area when Spencer was 4 and Lindsey 2. Memories....Here the boys are keeping Dallin happy by walking him around the campground.



Near our campsite was the trailhead to Palisade Falls. It was around 1/4 mile or so, and it was so cute because Dallin insisted on hiking the entire way up and wouldn't let me carry him. He was tired and red faced by the time we got to eat our M&M's at the top, and didn't resist a lift into the backpack for the way down.


We then headed up to the Kalispell area and stayed at Tally Lake a night. Then off to Glacier. The kids enjoyed the amazing drive up the Going to the Sun Road. If you haven't tried it, it's a must!

We drove up to Logan Pass, and took the Nature Trail to Hidden Lake. It was a beautiful Sub Alpine hike. The previous little hike to the waterfalls must have given Dallin the hiken'fever....he insisted on hiking the entire 1 1/2 miles to the top on his own! The excited light in his eyes was sooo sweet, and he got a lot of comments from fellow hikers on the trail.

Slow and steady wins the race...Ryan stayed with him the whole time while the kids and I went on ahead.

We stayed at Hungry Horse Resevoir near Glacier National Park. In the mornings and evenings Dallin was in a 2 year old heaven. Throwing rocks into water! We weren't suprised with the new word he learned that week. "Rah!" (Rock)

After the week of hiking and camping we got up Sunday morning and found some coin operated showers to clean up in. Then we went to Kalispell and barely made it to 1 o'clock church. Their ward is 1/3 the size of ours here in Rexburg! They didn't even have to open the doors to the gym. Ryan's first area that he served on his mission was in Kalispell. He was excited to see some members he still remembered (he was only there 3 months) and some of them actually remembered him! (At least we trust they really did remember!!) In fact, one of the families invited us over for dinner and we got BLT's, icecream, and cake! So that was a fun ending to a great trip. We are now all back to school and the daily grind...another post soon!
